Hey Aina Crew. This week I decided to make a crochet elephant, and it was almost the death of me.

Who knew these people that make these patterns were SO TALENTED?? And patient?? Good grief they’re amazing. So, the good news is that I persevered and yes, while it’s Tuesday of the week after I should have gotten it done, Mr. Snuffleupagus is finally making his debut:

Volunteer at home for a trusted nonprofit charity helping Refugees in Rome, Italy

I am mostly completely in love with his sad little Snuffleupagus eyes – totally brings back my Sesame Street days.

This project is to help refugee families in Italy – did you know that by the end of 2016 there were almost a MILLION refugees in Europe? I’ve met some of them here in Italy, and let me tell you – this decision to flee is not a walk in the park. Often the migration takes up to 2 years, and I cannot speak of the terrible, awful things that happen along the way – especially to women. So. We have a beautiful project that you can do to help these women – and their sweet babies that often have next to nothing of their own.

Chiesa Evangelica Luterana in Italia is an amazing church that has started numerous projects to help people around Italy. One of their projects, the Teddy Bear Project, helps to get diapers – yep, simple, but so needed – to refugee women with small children living in and around Rome. They take donated items for these children – all are so, so welcome, but handmade, hand-loved items are incredibly coveted and adored. So, let’s make an elephant, shall we?

Here are all of the supplies that you’ll need for this super fun (although, yes, looooooong!) project! This is the perfect project to do while catching up on the latest season of Poldark!
