Help Stop Racism with Anti-Hate Spray.
“Now, we must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men.” –BOONDOCK SAINTS
That’s what this one’s all about people. It’s not about taking sides, getting political, or hating on anyone. What is it all about? Spreading some love and DOING something when you see injustice. Damn straight. We can get behind that. This awesome org has some fantastic ways you can stand up for justice. How can you do that? We’ve got all of the deets below…
Organization: Victorian Equal Opportunity & Human Rights Commission
So this is a commission within the Aussie government chartered to fight hate and discrimination. They’re doin it with flair. Basically, they provide a bunch of services that you can use to report and stop hate crimes in Victoria. Not super helpful for anyone outside of Victoria, BUT they have these two awesome services that are all online and that anyone can use, anywhere, to stand up and speak up (in a super loving way!) against hate. We love that. (btw, if you’re in the U.S. and want to report a hate crime go here).
- You’ve got two options on this one. The first one is perf for all y’all social media junkies (me too, sister. me too). If any of your friends happens to say something that you think crosses that line, cover that up with some anti-hate spray. What’s anti-hate spray? You can see all of the info on it here (and a sweet pic of the spray can), but basically they give you a toolkit of how to not be an indifferent bystander. Because just like Janis stood up to the plastics, the best way to take down a bully that’s hating on someone else is to stand up to them. So send them a note (it’s loving! And something you could actually send to a friend! And imagine it with an Australian Hugh Jackman accent bc, omg!) and stand up.
- Option Two? Shout it out and tell the world what you’ve seen. This org has an awesome (uncensored) blog about other people witnessing and standing up against racism. Don’t believe that there is racism? Read just a few of these notes. Witnessed it and stood up to it? Join the cadre and write it all out for others to know about.
